THE IMPASSIBLE WALL
LESSON 4
Hebrews 9:27 tells us, “AND IT IS APPOINTED UNTO MAN ONCE TO DIE, AND AFTER THAT THE JUDGMENT.”
No matter if a person is GOOD, BAD, or RELIGIOUS and dies without having believed in Jesus Christ, he will stand before Him at the GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT in eternity. There will be no place for those unbelievers to hide.
Revelation 20:11: "And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heavens fled away; and there was found no place for them.”
Revelation 20:12 tells us the basis on which those unbelievers will be evaluated: "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the BOOK OF LIFE. The dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, ACCORDING TO THEIR WORKS!
The dead spoken about here are the spiritually dead. They were never born again by faith in Jesus Christ. Some of the people were great and powerful during their lifetime; but now they are in the same situation as those who lived a very insignificant life.
In His perfect RIGHTEOUSNESS, God provided salvation for those unbelievers, but they would not believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Now we see His perfect JUSTICE in action as the books are opened.
God is absolute RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUSTICE, and He will show every unbeliever the place in the BOOK OF LIFE where their names had been recorded and then blotted out. He does that to prove to them that provision was made for them to be saved, and spend eternity with Him, but they refused to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Then the Lord will show the unbeliever that his name was entered into the BOOK OF WORKS, because he did not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, All of the unbeliever's good works will be recorded in that book. Notice that their sins are not mentioned at all, because Jesus Christ bore them on the cross and they have been judged!
Revelation 20:13,14: "And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them, and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death."
Every unbeliever will be given a body at this last judgment, and they will stand at that Great White Throne of judgment to be judged by the very One whom they rejected in their lifetime. They were spiritually dead all of their life, and now they will be cast into the Lake of Fire, which is the Second Death.
Revelation 20:15: "And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire."
Again, the Bible emphasizes that those whose names are not found in the Book of Life will be cast into the Lake of Fire after they are judged. In the Lake of Fire, they will never die, but they will spend eternity with Satan and his angels along with all other people who rejected Jesus Christ.
The Lake of Fire will be a place of continual torment and isolation from the Lord throughout all eternity.
When we see the reality of these verses, we ought to be more concerned than ever before that we are faithful Ambassadors for Christ in presenting the facts of the Gospel to the human race.
